Ceili's Muse
Celtic Folk
P.O. Box 70144
Houston, Texas 77270-0144

Ceili's Muse delivers a unique style of Celtic musical tradition with stunning, powerful vocal harmonies and creative underlying guitar work. The solid, energetic arrangements provide a wide range of moods, from uplifting to solemn to absolutely looney! It is a fun and meaningful show that is not easily forgotten. The Muses can reach any audience, folk oriented or not, enhancing the appeal of any club or restaurant, from Texas to Ireland.

The Muse in its earliest incarnation consisted of Mary Maddux and Maggie Drennon. From 1989 to 1993 the duo built a large and dedicated fan base from the Red Lion Pub and McGonigel's Mucky Duck. Their perfectly matched voices became so sought after, we all thought it would go on forever. But in truth it was but the ground work for more talented influences. Melanie O'Sullivan brought her creativity to the Muse in January 1994, and Chuck Ivy started in on bass October of the same year. In the summer of '95 Mary moved to New England and our favorite Viking, Anders Johansson, filled the gap on guitar as of July.

Between the fall of 1996 and spring of 1997, the band reorganized yet again. The line-up now features Maggie and Anders (who have since married), along with the talents of Mike Byers on guitar, bouzouki, and mandolin. As a special bonus, Wolf Loescher of Austin's "Two O'Clock Courage" will be sitting in on percussion for numerous gigs during the Spring and Summer of 1997. The current line-up is a fine crossover into modern folk whilst maintaining its traditional flavor, not to mention a strong sense of dedication to Celtic music and style.
